CLASSEN drives recycling rates to record levels
The current sustainability report 2022/2023 of the CLASSEN Group impressively demonstrates how consistently the company is driving forward its commitment to more recycling. Particularly with the in-house material CERAMIN®which is used for PVC-free design and contract flooring, recycling rates have been increased to a record level:
- CERAMIN® currently contains 69% recycled material - an increase of 19% compared to October 2022
- Over a quarter of the total product now consists of recycled material
- Recyclates and post-consumer materials are fed back into the production process as part of a genuine circular economy
This means for architects and planning officers: With CERAMIN® flooring can also fulfil demanding sustainability standards in construction projects without compromising on quality and design. Thanks to the ‘Design for Recycling’ approach, the products are designed from the outset for durability and optimum recyclability.
Excellent recyclability officially confirmed
How well CERAMIN® can be recycled has now been confirmed by the independent plastics network plastship: The material has been certified as ‘excellently recyclable’. In addition, CERAMIN® the requirements of the renowned ‘Blue Angel’.
For maximum conservation of resources, CERAMIN® are 100% recyclable at the end of their life cycle - even outside the flooring industry. As a member of the EU's Circular Plastic Alliance, CLASSEN actively promotes the increased use of recyclates in plastic products.
More recycling for packaging too
At CLASSEN, recycling is not limited to the products themselves. The proportion of recycled packaging has also been significantly increased:
- Film packaging consists of 30% recycled material - and the trend is rising
- Packaging units are continuously optimised to minimise plastic waste
- Increased use of solid cardboard and natural materials
