Full transparency: CERAMIN® relies on EPDs for sustainability

True sustainability requires transparency. This can prevent greenwashing in the industry and allow consumers to make an informed decision when buying. The current Sustainability Report of the CLASSEN Group represents a further important step towards transparency and ecological responsibility of the family-owned company, as all CERAMIN® products are labelled with the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). These standardised environmental declarations provide clear, reliable data on the environmental impact of floor coverings and make it easier for architects, planning officers and construction managers to plan sustainable construction projects.

EPDs as the basis for fact-based sustainability

The introduction of EPDs is an important milestone for CLASSEN and reflects the endeavour not only to develop environmentally friendly products, but also to disclose their impact transparently. The EPDs were created in accordance with international standards such as ISO 14025 and EN 15804 and cover the entire life cycle of CERAMIN® products - from raw material extraction to disposal. This comprehensive analysis enables a precise comparison with other building materials and provides those responsible for construction with a solid basis for decision-making.

Focus on environmentally friendly and transparent production

The EPDs can also be used to illustrate the progress made by the CLASSEN Group in terms of sustainability and resource conservation. CERAMIN® products rely on recycled materials and thus contribute to an environmentally friendly circular economy. The proportion of recycled material is now over 25 per cent and the use of renewable energies has significantly reduced the CO2 footprint in production. EPDs offer an unbiased insight into the ecological footprint of products. They are therefore becoming an increasingly important tool for assessing the sustainability of construction projects and making ecologically sound decisions. The data provides valuable information that plays a key role in DGNB, LEED or BREEAM certifications. With the publication of EPDs, the CLASSEN Group is focussing on maximum transparency and offers clear environmental indicators that enable a conscious selection of building materials.

Conclusion

With the introduction of EPDs for all CERAMIN® products, the CLASSEN Group is emphasising its commitment to transparency and sustainability. The declarations provide an objective basis for comprehensively assessing the environmental performance of the products and emphasise the company's commitment to sustainable construction projects. CLASSEN thus demonstrates that transparency and responsibility in production are essential for future-orientated and sustainable corporate management.
