PVC-free flooring: Market and background

The market for resilient floor coverings is more versatile than ever before. However, it is not alone in this, but is part of a development that is shaping almost all sectors of the economy: towards alternative, natural materials in connection with more attentiveness to health and nature.

After the triumphal march of PVC in the second half of the 20th century, at some point it was no longer possible to deny the numerous study and research results pointing to the dangers posed by PVC products.

Education about PVC is needed

In the course of this, we face up to our responsibility as manufacturers and traders and would like to educate you, the consumers, traders, builders, planning authorities etc. about the PVC issue. To this end, we offer you articles under three thematic premises:

  1. Clarification of terms and ingredients
    There are a variety of terms for the most diverse products: PVC flooring, vinyl flooring, designer flooring, PVC-free designer flooring etc. This, combined with the fact that manufacturers and retailers are not obliged to provide information on all the ingredients of their products, confuses many consumers. Here we bring light into the darkness.

     

  2. Dangers for the environment and health
    PVC schadet in jeder Phase (Herstellung, Gebrauch, Entsorgung) der Natur und sowohl indirekt als auch direkt der menschlichen Gesundheit. Wir klären auf und verweisen dabei auch auf aktuelle, wissenschaftlich fundierte Studien.
